Problem when shaving?

I have been shaving since I was 16 (now 23) and have never had any problems until recently - I seem to be getting 'spots' (look like acne, but are not) on my neck which I can only assume is from shaving...

I took a photo to hopefully make answering my problem a little easier:

anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong, or what I need to do to rectify this? I have tried using a new shaver head and even bought a new razor (went for one of the gillete fusion razors as assumed it is some form of irritation but still the problem is staying). Also tried using moisturising cream but that is also not helping :-/

Answer:
I get that sometimes if I don't shave often enough and get too stubbly. Use aftershave everytime to dry it up.
You are probably shaving against the grain. If you have a heavy beard this tends to happen. Try shaving with the grain.
Not sure about aftershave it might make it worse!!

I get it occasionally so it's normal. Make sure the razor is as sharp as possible, and use high quality ones - I found Mach3 to be really good at avoiding it.

Shave in the direction of hair growth and there are soothing balms available. Also, you can use a shaving gel underneath your foam that will help lubricate the razor. It seems to be caused by friction from the blade
Your lesions look like two possible things: one is impetigo ( a skin infection caused by germs that normally live on your skin, but dependeding on other conditions, such as stress or a propensity for allergies, multiply on the hair follicles and cause inflammation there- that is why they could look like acne, because acne is a condition of the hair follicle too), and the second option is an actual allergy, caused by the trauma of shaving or by the products you use. For both conditions you would need a medicated oinment or cream, so my recommendation would be
1. replace all of your shaving products for hypoallergenic ones,
2. Stop shaving for the moment
3. find a doctor to make a final diagnosis
well the reason it dose that is because your shaving it wrong you have to shave up not down because then it messes up the system of the way your hairs growing leaving it to swell up where you shaved wrong
hey bob, thats irritation from your razor.try using a razor for sensitive skin.maybe your pushing on your razor too much, try letting it glide on your face.your not using a dull blade are you?,because that will cause it too.try making your water a little hotter,to soften your whiskers more.
the pic you attached looks like it's of your back and i don't know how you could reach back there to shave it. but assuming you can, i'd just let it go for a little while without shaving and see if it clears up. if it doesn't, i'd see a dermatologist!
Hi it looks like razor bumps, all you need do is soften the beard before you shave, get a damp flannel and put in the microwave for 30 seconds until it is warm, not hot, place over the beard for about two Min's, use a good shaving cream such as king of shaves, change the blade or disposable every 2 day's shave with hot water, and don't use aftershave use after shave balm, to sooth the skin, you should find a difference in no time
